A Mountaintop Week of Prayer - Hours 0 - 48

Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”
Matthew 20:17 – 19

This week I hope you will join us in participating in a Week of Prayer as we reflect upon the events of the week that led to the cross and prepare for our celebration of Easter.  The Jewish day begins at sunset. From sunset on Saturday (the evening before Palm Sunday) it was 180 hours until sunrise on Easter morning. During those 180 hours the world was changed forever. That power can still change the world – it can even change you.

HOURS 0 – 48
SUNDAY AND MONDAY
And Jesus…drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.
Matthew 21:12

After His triumphant entry into Jerusalem the first act Jesus did was to cleanse the temple from all that didn’t belong there. It’s also the first thing He does when He enters our lives. He goes straight to the heart and cleans out all that doesn’t belong.

As we begin this week of prayer invite Jesus to come and search your heart and clean it out so that there is more room to receive the life He brings that changes the world.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10

The events of hours 0 – 48 can be found in Matthew 21:1 - 17.
